MYP CONCEPTS & INQUIRY
Over the next 5 weeks we will investigate how artists provoke curiosity by pushing the boundaries of the familiar. We will create our own Magic Objects using clay. To do this will we be studying the work of Tom Moore, experimenting with collage, and building on our drawing skills. We will compare and contrast artists from different contexts such as Salvador Dali and Liu Bolin, and question the role of curiosity in the making of art. Finally, we will create wild and creative sculptures that show our own interpretation of ‘Magic Objects’, using different clay building techniques. We will be looking at the art element of FORM, and exploring the idea of hybridity & mutation.

CHANGE
The arts may be a reflection of change, or an inspiration for change. Change may be considered as external to the arts or incorporated within an artwork. In the arts, change can also be termed as metamorphosis or transformation—a marked change, in appearance, form, nature or character. |
BOUNDARIES
The parameters that define a personality, a culture, an environment, civil law, a skill set or a belief structure. The concept of boundaries can include: themes, issues and concepts; the imagined or physical boundary between performance space and audience; the subversive or provocative nature of the arts; the dividing line between what is real and what is fictional; private and public space; the relationships between characters. |
