Welcome to year 9 Drama
OverviewIn 2016, Drama will offer year 9 students an exploration of archetypal stories and characters, insight into the technical skills needed as an actor to act for the camera, skills in developing plays from scratch and a unit on children's theatre where we will learn how to entertain children. This particular unit of work will culminate in a performance for age 6 and 7 students at Arlington.

As per the MYP model, each unit of work will include key concepts and related concepts such as relationships (the relationship between people and ideas) and interpretation, specifically 'An artist’s distinctive personal version expressed by stylistic individuality'. |
We will also be positioning these areas of study in drama within a global context such as 'what it means to be human' and the interconnectedness of humans. For instance, in our study of archetypes, how are the thematic concerns of our lives similar? Each unit of work will conclude with a performance and written assessment where students will get to showcase their individual understanding of skills learned and their responses to factual, conceptual and debatable questions. |
